About the game
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a deep, story-driven role-playing game developed by Larian Studios and set in the iconic Forgotten Realms universe of Dungeons & Dragons.
After becoming infected with a mysterious mind flayer parasite, you find yourself caught in a growing conflict involving powerful factions, ancient secrets, dangerous creatures, and forces that could determine the fate of the world. Whether the parasite becomes a curse, a weapon, or something entirely different depends largely on the choices you make.
You can create your own character or play as one of several pre-made Origin characters, each with their own background, personality, relationships, and personal storyline. Along the way, you recruit a diverse group of companions whose opinions and loyalty are influenced by your decisions.
Exploration plays a major role, with large environments filled with hidden areas, quests, puzzles, treasures, and multiple ways to approach almost every situation. Conversations can be just as important as combat, with dialogue choices, character abilities, dice rolls, and previous decisions all affecting how encounters unfold.
Combat is turn-based and heavily inspired by the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition ruleset. Players can combine spells, weapons, abilities, environmental objects, positioning, and creative strategies to overcome enemies.
What makes Baldur’s Gate 3 stand out is the amount of freedom it gives the player. Quests rarely have just one solution, characters react to your actions, relationships can develop in very different directions, and seemingly small decisions can have consequences much later in the game. No two playthroughs need to tell exactly the same story.
